Since the 19th century, the press and the audiovisual media have been playing a crucial role in crisis political , for example with the Dreyfus Affair, but also in other types of crisis such as the current health crisis with the coronavirus. Indeed, the media play the role of spokesperson between public opinion and the state.

The media are omnipresent in our daily lives.

Radio, television, social media are our primary sources of information. Unconsciously, when a human sees information repeatedly on different sites, he tends to believe it without actually verifying the sources, like this since this information was broadcast on TV, he did not need it to be questioned. They have become, so to speak, "judges of the truth".

This is how the media plays a major role in determining ways of thinking, in determining ideas, habits and customs.

For example, thanks to Internet today, information travels at an express speed. Beyond the big headliners with are mostly amplified in television news, the challenges on social networks show how fast a new fashion is circulating. I can cite several of them and I am convinced that you have one in mind directly behind your screen ( TikTok, Throwback Thursday challenge...)

One question : how do social media become "dangerous" for our personal thinking ? They have the influence of changing the opinion of an entire community : people think the same things, do the same things, afraid of feeling rejected and marginalized from society.

Little experience : Take around, 5 students of 18 years for example.By asking the right questions, everyone will tell you that they had their first eastpak in college, their first cell phone in the same year. It's totally overrated but it's a verdict.

Social media does not stop us from thinking about positioning , however the opinion of an entire community is so strong that it can dissuade us from our own truth. Technological advances such as social media facilitate our communication, keep us more easily informed of news from the world around us, but it should not limit us intellectually. It's important to keep a certain awareness of a society, of which we are all a part, with consciously or not, dictates our actions.

Finally, I also want to highlight the good sides of the networks, contributing to the well-being of the population.

Indeed, social media allow us to communicate, share, learn, get closer. All of this is a remedy for loneliness.

To conclude, we can say that by using social media wisely, they have a good influence on our "psychological health" by not overflowing

And you what do you think ?

Are these tools good in our daily life ?
